It's been almost five months, and I wonder how we've managed to make it without you. There have been a few family dinners and birthday parties and we all wonder if they'll ever be the same again. I still reach for the phone to call you, and I can't bring myself to delete your texts. I can hear you when I read them. Spring is almost over but I didn't plant any flowers this year. I've hardly been on the patio at all. Can't do it yet. Can't drink wine either. I was sitting your picture in front of the tv and turning golf on for you until someone reminded me that you have a perfect view from where you are. Just between you and me, Mom....did you have anything to do with Tiger's downfall?
I love you, Mom, and I miss you every day.

One of my favorite memories of my beautiful sister and my perfect patient is that whenever I went to visit my daughters, (Donna's nieces) in Vancouver, Donna would always show up with her suitcases and stay there too. When my daughters would ask, (in a laughing way), to Donna, "Why are you here?" she would simply reply, "your Mom was my sister before she was your Mom", and we would all laugh. Donna and I laughed so hard, and travelled to Phoenix so many, many times, what fabulous memories.
After every phone call, Donna ALWAYS ended it with laughter, and a hear felt "I Love You", and we too will ALWAYS love Donna.
Forever in our fondest memories,

What a beautiful obituary. Thank you for allowing me to look at the pictures of her. I now have a very nice picture of Donna in my mind. I love that she was a golfer! I did not know Donna, but was present when she passed on. I was the lady who was doing CPR on her when she passed. I hope your family has only wonderful memories, and I am sorry that I was not able to do more. Sincerely, Patti

Everything I've ever done with mom is a favorite memory. She was my very best friend and the way we talked to each other, it was obvious. Since her brain surgery she would sometimes forget words but I always finished her sentences anyway. Either that or she'd just make up a wordfrom the Dictionary of Donna.
For years we canned tomatoes together. We'd make such a mess but we sure had fun. One year we made a huge batch of bruschetta and we ate every bit of it, sitting on the patio late one summer night, drinking wine. That night was one of many sleepovers.
When the great grandchildren (she called them the babies') stayed over, she did too, many times.
No matter how achy she was, she just couldn't resist having babies on her lap, even if they were 8 or 9 years old.
She loved spring when we would plant flowers together, then she would come over and sit in the sun every day while I was at work and admire the garden. And drink her wine, of course. Every day at 3:00 was Wine Time, unless we were out for lunch that day She liked going out for lunch!
She was so funny and had the greatest sense of humor. And a great laugh! I miss her laugh. Our road trips were so much fun, filled with joking, teasing, singing to the oldies. I was the driver and she was the DJ because she drove really fast without noticing. She was really proud of her kids and loved us so much, and always let us know. That has to be my favorite memory and what I'll miss the most.
I love you too Mom and I miss you so much.

I remember one time when I was about eight years old, Mom was going out with her friend and I wanted to go. Of course she said No' so I hid in the backseat of her friends car under some coats and they didn't see me there so they drove off down the road. I waited about 6 or 7 blocks then I sat up and said Hi!' She was really mad but I must have scared the crap out of them. Needless to say they turned around and took me back home. Another time, I was around eight again, I asked mom to make me a lunch to take to my fort in the bush. She made me two meatloaf sandwiches with ketchup, wrapped in waxed paper like always, and packed them in my canvas rucksack. I took those sandwiches up to my fort and sat there all by myself and ate them all. Those were the best meatloaf sandwiches!
Mom always called me Pattie. I can hear her voice on the phone Hi Pattie! I miss hearing that.

I remember Gramma Donna teaching me how to play golf by giving me special trade secrets that she has learned over the years playing the sport.

Golfing with Donna was a great learning experience. With all her rules I had to learn. Like 11-3, to keep my balls on the fairway!
All my love Donna,

My best memory of Grandma was when I told her I was a Canadian Forces Combat Engineer she didn't judge or instantly ask what if I get blown up but instead showed interest, pride, and love towards my decision. Her smile that day stays with me forever.
No matter how hard things get I think of this moment and it keeps me going.

The time Pat & I asked Donna to borrow the car and she said not in this life time, but after about an hour we were in the car and on the road. I will deeply miss her.

My favorite memory of Gram would be going to see Gramma in the Alligator in her Surrey Apartment. As soon as I would walk in the door, Gram would always make me orange juice and 7-up. I still love it to this day. Gramma always having the TV turned to the Golf Channel, and hearing her yell at the TV from the kitchen. Gram was one of the strongest, and most inspirational women I have ever known in my life. And cannot feel any more proud to be her Granddaughter. And thankful every single day that she got to spend 14 years with my baby boy. I know you will always watch over us, and protect us. We will always miss you, and can never stop loving you! I love you more than words can say! I love you!
Love always,

My best memories of Donna were being at the hospital and helping with the birth of our kids, not counting Gilbert, who was born as one of the kids another time.

So many memories from rides on motorcycles to large family dinners. The memories of the good times while the boys played and you talked to my boys that they will remember, which will make them better men. I am truly grateful. We will miss you Gramma and we will see you again.

Gilbert and I were just going out for 2 weeks but Donna treated me with open arms and on Christmas Eve gave me a gift which made me feel so accepted. I will always be so thankful of her being a part of Gil's teenage life. I know she made a difference.
