Donna McKamey Martin, 79, of Oak Ridge, passed away Monday, December 7, 2009 at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. She was born February 13, 1930 in Chaska, Tennessee, the daughter of Helena Jones and John Ed McKamey. A long time resident of Oak Ridge and a member of one of the first classes to graduate from Oak Ridge High School, she taught in the Oak Ridge School system for 15 plus years. In 1996, she retired from teaching and her passion became her grandchildren whom she adored. She was an active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church for over 40 years. Donna was married to William M. Martin for 55 years; he was her best friend and the love of her life. They had two daughters, Helena Smith and her special friend Carlito Flores of Lynchburg, Virginia and Lisa McCollum and her husband, Jeff, of Oak Ridge. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. Her greatest pleasure was doing things with and for her family. She is survived by her husband, her daughters, her grandchildren Kristen and Hunter Walker of Denver, Colorado; Karen and Mitch Zirkle of Amherst, Virginia; Daniel and Callie Smith of Amherst, Virginia, Hannah and Peyton McCollum of Oak Ridge, her seven precious great grandchildren, her nieces and nephews, and special friends, including a best friend since childhood, Eloise Mitchell and her husband Ronnie, and special cousin Frieda Wolfe and her husband Bill. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 8, 2009 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary in Oak Ridge. The funeral will follow at 8 p.m. with Pastor Tom Job officiating. A graveside service will be held on Thursday at 12 noon at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family asks that any memorials be in the form of contributions to the American Red Cross Blood Services (www.redcross.org), your local blood bank or the Sjogren’s Foundation (www.sjorgrens.org).
