Donna Pride Scott, M.D., 61, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday September, 12, surrounded by her loving family after a nearly five year battle with breast cancer.
Despite the harshness of the disease and treatment, she never once complained, missed a day of work, nor allowed her spirit or dignity to be compromised. Donna was a lifelong resident of Media, with the exception of brief stints in State College while obtaining a master's degree from Penn State and Detroit, MI after her marriage to James B. Scott, Jr., of Drexel Hill. She also enjoyed spending time in Ocean City, NJ. Following her graduation from Penncrest High School in 1970, she earned her B.S. in Biology at Widener University and M.S. in Microbiology at Penn State. She later earned her Medical Doctor degree at the Medical College of Pennsylvania, as well as an MBA at Johns Hopkins University.
Her life was dedicated to caring for children. She helped countless kids over a 15 year career as the Director of Inpatient Pediatrics, first at the Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby Borough and later at the Crozer Chester Medical Center in Upland.
She also spent a number of years working with both the Delaware County Child Death Review Team and the Delaware County Children and Youth Services Sexual Abuse Center where she provided expert opinions and testimony in child death and sexual abuse cases. She was last employed as a medical director at Progeny Health in Conshohocken
Survivors: Her ever loving husband of 34 years, James B. Scott, Jr.; three sons Steven, James, III, and David; two daughter-in-laws, Amy and Angela; siblings Jacqueline Emuryan and Donald Pride; Aunt and Uncle George and Myra Young; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be forever missed and loved by her family and the countless others she touched throughout her life. Viewing: Will take place at Rigby, Harting & Hagan Funeral Home, 15 E. Fourth St., Media, from 7-9 pm, on Tuesday, Sep. 17th, and again Wednesday morning, at Nativity BVM Church, from 9 to 10 a.m.

Not sure what to say?

I just learned of your loss the other day, and I am so terribly sorry to hear that Donna was sick and passed. I worked with her at both Fitzgerald Mercy and Keystone Mercy Health Plan. She was a wonderful woman and dedicated doctor, as well as wife and mother. God Bless your family through this upcoming and no doubt difficult Holiday Season.

Jim, Steve, Jimmy, and David

I am very sorry for your loss. You are the lucky ones to have been the husband and children of such a wonderful and gracious woman. A great light is no longer guiding you and others on this earth, but she will be watching over you from above.

My deepest sympathy to Steve and his family on the passing of your mother. I am Bobby Pendal's mother. Enjoyed your visit and company at Bobby's house last year. Please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Trained me when I was a pediatric resident. I will always remember her patience and kindness.

Jim, Steve, Jimmy and Amy, David and Angie,
I am heartbroken for you at the loss of your precious Donna. She certainly "fought the good fight, finished the course and kept the faith" all with grace and dignity. What a wonderful lady.....I was blessed to know her and to be her friend. I pray for "the peace that passes understanding" for each one of you.

One of the kindest, gentlest attendings I had during my training. Truly a wonderful teacher and woman. Her spirit lives on in her family, her patients and those of us who are better physicians because of her caring ways.

Jim, Steven, David and Jimmy and family, My thoughts and prayers are with Donna and you. I know she is at peace and healed. Donna was so intelligent and fun. What a lady. I'll miss her and wish that I could be with you. Love, Susan
