Donna Marie Smart (63), Lifelong resident of West Springfield passed away peacefully on August 11,2024 surrounded by her loving Family.
Born on December 15, 1960 in Springfield, MA. Donna was the loving daughter of Elvira Mastroianni, and Alphonso Manfredi. She grew up surrounded by her loving brothers and sisters, Barbara Footman of Springfield, Susan Giuggio of East Longmeadow, Joseph Manfredi of West Springfield, and predeceased by her brother Robert Manfredi of West Springfield. Donna leaves her loving husband Douglas and daughter Jessica Smart of North Truro, MA. Donna’s love and support for her husband and daughter knew no bounds, and her memory will forever live on in their hearts. Donna was an educator/Librarian in the West Springfield school system. Her love for the children inspired her work in the school system for 20+ years. Additionally, she loved spending time working at her store in Provincetown with her husband. She developed many friendships with tourists from all over the world. She loved spending her off time on the beach, kayaking, collecting sea glass, sailing on the Schooner Hindu, and sipping margaritas on the beach with her friends watching sunsets.
Donna will be remembered as a woman with a great sense of humor, and the ability to develop friendships wherever she went. She had a warm smile and kind- hearted nature to all who crossed her path. Donna’s departure has left a void that can never be filled, but her memory will forever be treasured by those fortunate enough to have known her.
It was Donna’s wish to have a private ceremony attended by family members, and have her remains scattered from the schooner Hindu in Provincetown off of Race Point Beach. Though Donna may be physically gone her spirit remains with us. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation in honor of Donna to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 or online to dana-farber.org/gift The CURRAN-JONES FUNERAL HOME IS IN CHARGE OF THE ARRANGEMENTS.

Oh Donna, I will miss your smiling face and your awesome book recommendations! Doug & Jessica, my heart-felt sympathy for you. Donna was a "beach buddy" and recommended most of the books I´ve read for the past few years. We met on the beach at Race Point, while reading the same book. Friends from then on. I´ll never forget her. Let your memories be a source of strength for you.
