Athens Donna Jean Smith Whitlatch, 77, of Athens, Ohio passed away Monday, September 30, 2024 after a hard-fought battle with lung cancer.

Born April 9, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Hazel Linscott and Pearly Smith. She was greatly loved and will be sorely missed.

Donna loved bluegrass festivals, camping with her family, and playing hours of cards with family and friends. She was never allowed to keep score, for good reason. She often sang along with her favorite music, although with her own words, which brought a smile to us all. She was an avid Spartan sports fan, and loved watching her Joey B. play!

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Jeff Whitlatch, and four daughters, Dawn Casteel (Millard Draudt), Sharon Casteel Miller (Ryan Miller), Jeannette Casteel Keiter (Doug Keiter), and Amanda Whitlatch. Donna is also survived by her five grandchildren, Kristy King, Rachel Keiter (Trey Smith), Leah Keiter (Colin O'Dowd), Lilly Miller, and David Jones; her sister Joyce Meeks; brother Jerry (Ginger) Smith; brother-in-laws Robert (Linda) Whitlatch, Gary Whitlatch, and Ted Riffe; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by sisters Helen Fish, Betty Arnold, and Pearl McClain; brothers Chuck, Gordon, and Joe; sisters-in-law Judy Whitlatch Riffe and Anita Haning Whitlatch, a very special brother-in-law Bob Meeks, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A private family gathering will be held. Please remember Donna with a smile and joy in your heart, as we will. Cremation arrangements are with Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens. Please share a memory, a note of condolence or sign the online register at www.jagersfuneralhome.com. Donna Whitlatch
