Donnie Wayne McPherson

Donnie Wayne McPherson, age 73 of Eddyville, passed away on July 24, 2017 at 1:28 pm at his home following a long illness. Born on October 10, 1943 to Clyde and Ella Jarrett McPherson of Lyon County, Donnie was the eldest of seven children. He attended school in Old Eddyville until his enlistment in the United States Army in 1963. He proudly served his country, being stationed stateside as well as in Germany. On November 10, 1949 Donnie married Norma Ann Hamby and together raised five children. They enjoyed forty years of marriage until her passing in 2009. A Kentucky Colonel and member of Labor Local #1214 in Paducah, Donnie was employed in the construction field until his retirement in 1993. Donnie enjoyed listening to country music, particularly Johnny Cash, and was a passionate and devoted fan of the University of Kentucky basketball program. Donnie was a devout Christian and faithful follower of Christ, witnessing about the love and grace of our Lord. He was a member of Suwanee Furnace Baptist Church in Lyon County. Mr. McPherson is survived by five children: Jennifer Baize (Jay) of Eddyville, Donnita Wilson (Jim) of Morristown, TN, Gary Holsapple (Lori) of Kuttawa, Kim Edwards (Rodney) of Paducah, Mike McLeod (Donna) of Kuttawa, five sisters Margaret Murphy of Princeton, Judy Johnson and Sue Brantley both of Eddyville and Nancy Ramey and Barbara Campbell both of Kuttawa. He had eleven grandchildren, Laura Gower, Mitch McLeod, Abbey Guess, Matthew Edwards, Lydia Smith, Brandon Wilson, Noelle Burchett, Devin Wilson, Marley Burchett, Luke Burchett and Kensleigh Edwards. Mr. McPherson was preceded in death by his wife of forty years, Norma Hamby McPherson, his parents Clyde and Ella Jarrett McPherson, and a brother Paul McPherson. Funeral services for Mr. Donnie Wayne McPherson will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Dunn's Funeral Home in Eddyville with Rev. Don Short and Rev. Jeremy Short officiating and burial will follow in Rolling Hills Cemetery with Military Rites. Visitation will be from 10:00 until 2:00 on Wednesday.
