Erickson, Donovan A. age 72, of Edina, died peacefully, with family at his side, on November 15, 2005 from a recently-diagnosed metastic liver cancer. Donovan had a lifelong career at Holiday Companies, his family's business founded by his father, Alfred, and his uncle, Arthur Erickson. Over the years he developed and maintained countless friendships with the people involved at Holiday Companies. Donovan, a St. Olaf College graduate, was an avid runner throughout the years and cherished his relationships with his "running buddies" and their breakfast group and a wide circle of other friends. Donovan and his wife, Beth, had the wonderful opportunity to travel extensively and always shared these unique experiences through their photos and stories. We will all remember his sense of humor, positive attitude, and his generosity in helping others achieve higher goals. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred and mother, Rose. He is survived by his wife, Beth; brothers & wives, Ronald & Kristine, Neal & Susan; sons & daughter-in-law, Brian & Sue, and Brad; stepson & wife, Marc & Molly Anderson; stepdaughter & husband, Nancy & Jeff Schoenwetter; grandchildren, Steven, Lauren, Annie, Jon, Jake and Cole; and many friends. Visitation Friday (TODAY), 12-2 PM at WASHBURN-MCREAVY EDINA CHAPEL, W. 50th St. & Vernon Ave at Hwy 100, Edina. Private interment Lakewood Cemetery, Mpls. Memorial service Friday (TODAY), 4 PM at MOUNT OLIVET LUTHERAN CHURCH, 50th & Knox Ave S., Mpls. Reception following. Not sure what to say?

I am so very sad to hear about the passing of who I called "Mr. Erickson." I was one of the lucky kids who had the opportunity to grow up with his sons and be touched by his extreme class and kindness. I will always remember him as a man who treated me like a son and who always was just a great guy. Thanks!!!!!!!!

To the Erickson family
I would like to send you my deepest sympathies on your sad loss. It came as a great shock to me. Donavan was always a special person to me going back to our days at Ramsey Junior High School and Washburn High School. When our paths crossed in the future he was always the same down to earth humble guy I always knew. His business ventures into North Dakota were a pleasure to observe with pride. He was always an inspiring friend, I am proud to have had. He will be...

I was saddened to learn of Donovan's sudden passing. His family, his friends, and Holiday Companies have lost a very special and important person.

To the family of Donovan Erickson
Sorry to hear of your loss.

Beth, we now count days shared with you and Don and the Brauns, both here and in Sanibel, as even more special. We will think of you in the next days and Ellie will catch up once she survives a Thanksgiving week's invasion from 5 grandchildren and their parents. Love, Bill and Ellie

I want to send my Deepest sympathy to the Erickson family from all the employees at Holiday 118 In Fridley and District 10 Managers. Donavan always had good ideas and very good things to say to the managers and employees each time he visited during the holiday season. This year we will miss his presence in our stores and we all are proude to work for you all. God bless and be well.
