Doreen R. Knapp, 82, of Lake Worth, Florida, and formerly of Tacoma and Puyallup, Washington, passed away on September 12, with her daughter and son-in-law by her side. Doreen’s faith and naturally grateful disposition carried her through a life with more adversity and tragedy than most. She handled all she was dealt with grace, strength, faith and dignity, and managed to always see the good in life.
Doreen was born to Joseph and Helen Bell in Tacoma, Washington, growing up with her parents and sister Patsy in a traditional and comfortable home. Doreen was married to Jon C. Knapp, her college sweetheart at UPS, for 51 years, until his passing in 2010. Doreen and Jon raised their daughter Kelli and son Kyle in Tacoma.
Doreen left her lifelong home of Washington State in 2013 to join her daughter and son-in-law in Florida. Although she missed the four seasons, the snow, and the cozy fireplaces of Washington, she enjoyed years of new scenery and adventure in Florida, creating priceless memories with her daughter.
Doreen will be missed beyond measure. She is survived by her daughter Kelli, son-in-law Mike Brito, one granddaughter Kayla, and one great granddaughter Emma.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, September 23, at 2:30pm, at Mountain View Cemetery in Tacoma, Washington.

Kelli and Mike,
My deepest sympathy for the loss of your kind and beautiful mother. Doreen loved her family and dogs as much as anybody possibly could.
I can honestly say I knew her for 50 years! (Not many three-year-olds knock on their new neighbors door to see if their two-year-old can play! ) What a blessing to have her in my life as a neighbor and dear friend for all those years. Wish I could have come to Florida more to visit, but sure thankful for the times I did visit...

Kelli we are so very sorry for the loss of your beautiful mother she will be missed. I cherish all the fun times we had over the years, like our special holiday meals, sipping champagne and talking about family and pups! Your Mom was a beautiful person with a caring and loving soul. She loved those close to her with all her heart and Dave and I feel so privileged and blessed to have had her in our lives for 23 years.
Doreen, I know you will watch over Kelli and Mike and all your...

Kelli, no words can express how sorry Mike and I are about the loss of your mom. I have fond memories of our moms and us enjoying a rainy afternoon sipping cocktails at the cabana on Mothers Day in 2018. May you find peace in knowing how much she loved you. She was a gentle soul, like her daughter❤
Much love,
Lindy and Mike Kohn
