Doris Ashburn

Doris Ashburn, 80, Onawa, Iowa passed away Sunday, August 22, 2010 at a Sioux City hospital. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Rush Family Chapel with Pastor Don Collison, officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Doris Loucille was born November 16, 1929 at Hopeville, Iowa, the daughter of Ivan and Opal (Glazbrook) Conn. Doris and Darrell Ashburn were united in marriage April 21, 1950. Darrell worked for a contractor and they traveled around the state of Iowa, building rural electric lines. He worked for Rural Electric Cooperative in Corning, Iowa where their three daughters were born. In 1957, the family moved to Onawa and Darrell worked for Northwest Iowa Power Cooperative. Doris was employed at Onawa Sentinel, Moons Dime Store, The Country Store, Pronto and Fast Stop. Darrell passed away November 17, 1988. Survivors include three daughters, Maryjo Skelton and Barbara Grimes both of Onawa and Elaine Archer of Missouri Valley, IA; seven grandchildren, Stacey (Ryan) Boysen, Nicole (Mark) Beltman, Erin (David) Richardson, John (Courtney) Archer and Christopher, Megan and Dustin Archer; 14 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Helen Donald of Sheboygan, WI, Irene (Gordon) Paulus of Afton, IA and Marion Wynn of Des Moines, IA and 2 brothers, Maurice (Linda) Conn of Madison, SD and Dale (Diane) Conn of Mt. Ayr, IA; two brothers-in-law, Leland (Linda) Ashburn of Ackworth, IA and John (Donna) Ashburn of Jefferson, IN and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Bob and Dick.
