Not sure what to say?

Oh Mrs. Atkins! How we miss you!

Mrs. Atkins was such a dear friend to our family "across the woods." She resonated life and sunshine even on a gloomy day. Her encouraging notes and phone calls offered such JOY. She had a rare and precious gift of making you feel as though you were the most special person in all the world. How we will miss her presence, her laughter, her zest for life. We will always carry her love in our hearts. She touched all of our lives with...

When I think back to my elementary school years one of my fondest memories is of Mrs. Atkins. We've kept in touch over the years through cards and pictures. I've told my children about Mrs. Atkins and how she was my favorite teacher. She will be missed. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely,
Karen (Dolobacs) Cappello and family

Doris,
When I saw you last, Charlotte and I were visiting with you, and we were all outside so you could get some fresh air and sunshine, you looked so peaceful as you were looking up towards the heavens. And when I took you back up to your room, and got you into bed, you once again, as you always did, gave me that sweet smile, and in a quiet little voice, said to me, "Joy, you are always such a joy to me!" I will always treasure those words, and will always treasure you! You were such a...

My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.

I never met Mrs. Atkins, however, I consider Ed, her son, a good friend.
Reading the guestbook here, I can only say that she must have been a grand woman, with a zest for life. She laid a great foundation for her children and from what I read, for many others as a teacher and mentor.
Our deepest and sincerest condolences to Ed and his entire family, from ours, the Kaplans.

Doris Atkins was one of my heros. She was up there with my mother, my grandmother and Maya Angelou. She was like no other person I had ever known. She had this spirit that would light up a room. She was my kindegarten teacher at Sunnybrae. She always was special to me, even when she would tell my parents that I tried to do everyone elses work. I became her side-kick, she became my mentor. I still remember playing "squirrel in the tree," a very well known recess game during which Mrs....

Aunt Doris,

I have so many treasured memories of my times spent with you and Uncle Cy at the pond. I pray you and Uncle Cy have been reunited for eternity. Thank you for all your love and support...you were always so sweet and kind. You had such a wonderful sense of humor.

Trudy, Eddy, Tommy,

My deepest and sincerest condolences. Aunt Doris was such a special lady. I hope you may find some comfort in that during this time.

Love,

We will miss Doris. Whenever I spoke with her she always had a positive attitude.

I appreciated the way she welcomed Bobbie into our family. Bobbie spoke with Doris several times on the phone. And they weren't short conversations.

I know Mom will miss her terribly. Even though they couldn't physically visit like they wanted to, they should could tie up a phone line.

Love and God's peace on you,
Ted and Bobbie

I grew up with Ed and Tommy. My sister Trish and Trudy were of that "older woman-something in the water in Yardville" event that my mom Alma McMahon was also "afflicted" with. Mrs. Atkins was a special lady, but I don't need to tell you, her family that. She tutored me in fourth grade when I was home on strict bedrest due to a lengthy illness. Her patience was greatly needed and tried but we both made it through the year! I hold the memories of growing up in Yardville closely to my heart and...
