She was the daughter of Walter and Alma Swartz, born November 21, in Dunbridge, Ohio and married Ned W. Baumgardner in Fostoria, Ohio on November 27, 1946. Ned and Doris lived in Port Huron, Michigan and later Bay City, Michigan. In both cities they were very involved in education and community theatre activities. Doris filled our lives with love, wisdom and humor and will be missed by her daughter, Barbara (Mike) Boyce; granddaughter, Jenny (Kevin) Novellino all of Bay City, Michigan; sisters, Alice (Ernest) Johnson of Mesa, Arizona and Helen Hasselbach of Norwalk, Ohio; sister-in- law, Louise Sutherland of Sedona, Arizona and eight nieces and nephews. Not sure what to say?

I was sorry to hear of Doris's passing. My family and I would like to extend our sympathies to the Baumgartner family. Doris gave me my first full-time job after college. The job was as migrant coordinator with the Bay County Office of Economic Opportunity. I will always be in her debt for opening many doors for me, including my 30 year job with the Michigan Dept. of Civil Rights.

Dear Barb, We've talked about our moms frequently this year (most recently at our class reunion)and now yours has passed away. I will always remember the kindness and hospitality your mom (and dad) showed me during all the years we attended school together. All the nonesense they put up with! Still, they always made us feel that our endeavors were worthwhile and that we could rely on their...
