Doris Cotton

Aunt Doris was a lovely woman.She and motherwo aunts, Flo, and June, and my mother, Esther, were a wonderful part of my childhood. I loved the house in Greenville and going there with Mom. Aunt Doris had a delightful dry wit that always took me by surprise. I remember her as fiercefully independent and intelligent. Now all of the sisters are gone, and there is a big hole in my heart, missing them. They were a force! I loved her. Lois Schulz Purtell

I have many fond memories of "Maudie Jo" and Mr. Cotton (we never gave the fathers nicknames) as we spent hours at their house playing. She was always halfway through a book and busy with her family. It takes me back to a great childhood and growing up in a small town.
