Engel, Doris L. (Gens) age 86 of Minneapolis, passed away on May 30, 2006 at the N.C. Little Hospice in Edina. Doris was born on July 18, 1919 in Ceresco Township, MN to Will and Elsa Gens. Preceded in death by husband, Clemens (1965), and brother, Waldon (1992). Beloved and cherished mother of Sharon, Sue (Dwight), Steve, Wendy (John) and Richard (Lise). Survived by brother Kenneth; sister Darlene; aunt Grace; grandchildren Julie, Andrew, Kim, Andrea, Nathan, Allen, Will and Christopher; great-grandchildren Mitchell, Cassandra, Rachel, Adam, Owen and Allee and many dear nieces, nephews, friends and relatives. Doris graduated from Mankato State University and taught English, history and music. She was recognized for her outstanding vocal abilities. After retiring from teaching, she served nine years as House Director for the Delta Gamma sorority on the U of MN campus. An exceptional woman of grace, dignity, strength and compassion. Her example and spirit live on in the lives of all she so graciously touched. Memorial service on Thursday, June 1 at 6:00 pm at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 12th and Nicollet, Mpls, with visitation prior from 4:30-6:00 pm. Private interment Ceresco Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials preferred to Mankato State University Music Scholarship Fund or N.C. Little Hospice. Cremation Society of MN Edina 952-924-4100
