Doris Lee Jordan Doris Lee Colbert Jordan, age 89 of Kingmont Community, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at her home with her family present. She was born July 10, 1925 in Dawson, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late Howard Glenn and Maude Rea Sproat Colbert. She is preceded in death by a brother Jack Glenn Colbert. She attended Dickerson Run Grade School and graduated from Dunbar Township High School in 1943. She received her Diploma in Nursing from Presbyterian University in Pittsburgh, in 1946: now the University of Pittsburgh. She was the last class of Cadet Nurses in the States Army Corp to graduate. She was an industrial nurse at Westinghouse Electric from 1946-47, Mannington Pottery from 1947-48, and Hayden Chemical from 1948-52. She worked private duty midnight shift at Fairmont General from 1952-65 while her children were young. She joined the staff of the Fairmont Clinic in 1965 as the first home health nurse in the state under the new Medicare Guidelines. A documentary was produced by NOVA Series, "What Price Coal?". Doris Lee was in it as she nursed the coal miners in the area. It aired in England in the 70's. She held positions in the clinic as the Coal Miner's Nurse and helped the families during the Farmington No 9 Mine disaster in 1968. Before retiring from the Clinic in 1991, she trained over 280 men and women to be certified home health aides in the tri-county area via Region 6. She studied to be a concert pianist, but chose nursing to be her vocation. She continued to play piano for churches, events and family and friends throughout her life. She and her husband Rex lived out their retirement on the Tygart River where they boated for over 50 years. In the past she held offices in the United Methodist Women and Garden Clubs. She served many years on the MVA Home Health Advisory Board at the Fairmont Clinic. She belonged to the Kicker Ticker Club in Morgantown, Women's Club of Fairmont, Christian Women's Association and the Kingmont Auxiliary. She was a faithful and active member of the Life United Methodist Church until her health declined. Her husband Rex Albert Jordan preceded her in death in December of 2011. She is survived by Daughters, Sherry (Randy) Henline of Whitewater, KS, Diana (Lee) Godbey, Lewisburg; Son, Randy (Mary) Jordan of Fairmont; grandchildren, Travis (Teri) Henline Rogers of AR, Jarred (Ashley) Henline of UT, Randall Jordan, Brandon (Kelsey) Jordan, Garrett Jordan all of Fairmont, Hannah (Nathan) Sites of Beckley and Jordan (Amanda) Godbey of TN; step grandchildren, Suzan (Shawn) Shoulders of NC, Josh (Sherrie) Rice, Luka Grabb and Andrew Grabb of Fairmont; great grandchildren, Gavin, Dyson, Ellie, Cambry and Brody Henline, Emma and Ryker Jordan and Lydia Sites and step great grandchildren, Madison and Conner Shoulders, Alyssa Grabb and Calab Rice. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4pm to 8pm and Thursday from 10am to 11am at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street. The funeral service will be on Thursday at 11am at the funeral home with Rev. Clyde Beard officiating. Interment will follow at the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover.
