Not sure what to say?

Tekla and Tracey, We are so sorry to hear about your mothers death. We were in Utah at the time so didn't hear for awhile. We had talked about driving down to see her but it would have been too late. We have really missed all of you. Your Mom and Dad were great neighbors and friends and the street just doesn't seem the same without them. I hope you will keep in touch from time to time. Gloria and Jack

I met Doris and Orville many years ago. They were both wonderful people and my life was blessed just for knowing them. Every year as the dog sled race begins I follow it very closely. That's not easy when you live in St. Louis. I share many stories from those memories with my son who is eleven. He will never have the blessings of meeting the Lake's, however, he will always know their names and many stories of the Iditarod.

It is sad to learn of the passing of this fine woman and friend. She exemplified the true Alaskan spirit, kind, hospitable and caring that old timers all understood. I enjoyed our monthly visits in her home for many years, where the Alaskan decor silently reminded me of life here before statehood and the earthquake, when folks always stopped to pull a car out of the snow bank or help one with car trouble off the side of the road. She was a great gal and is remembered fondly and will be missed...

I had the pleasure of timing sled dog races with Doris for several years. She was kind & funny and I really enjoyed the time spent with her. She had some great stories. I will miss her.

I met Orville and Doris through mutual friends Horace and Edna Byers. I talked with Edna recently and she is so very saddened by Doris' death and sends her deepest sympathy and condolences to the family. Doris was one of the sweetest and kindest people I've ever met and she and Orville and the Byers had such good fun together through the years.....they'll not be forgotten.

Doris was one of the kindest, most gentle people we have ever known. She always treated us like her own family and seemed genuinely happy to see us each time we met. She and Orville will always be remembered as dear friends. We loved both of them very much.

Tracey and Tekla, Thank you for the fine obituary. We have certainly missed your family. Doris Lake was a valued friend, neighbor and fellow member of the L.D.S. Church.

I had the pleasure of knowing Doris through the office of Dr Nile Ersland DDS. She was a sweet and kind person and when in town, always making time for a visit. We will remember her and her countless smiles and energy. Many blessings and thoughts to the family. May your fondest memories and strenth help you through this most difficult time.

Doris and Orville lived next to my mother off 48th and Lake Otis and I have known them for almost 50 years. Doris was a wonderful person and will be greatly missed by all in the mushing community.
