To those who love me, and to those I love dearly. If you could see me now you wouldn’t shed a tear. Though you may not understand why I’m no longer there. Remember my spirit that is the real me because I’m still very much alive, I’ve just been set free, Oh, if you could only see!


Doris Mae Taylor Richardson was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on December 17, 1942, to the late Presley and Helen Taylor Sr. She peacefully departed this life on April 4, 2024. She was a member of Marine & Mount Moriah Community Church prior to her passing and a former member of First Zion Baptist Church where she served faithfully as an Usher.



Doris was 1 of 3 children. She is survived by her 7 children and 1 bonus son, Regina Richardson, Joseph (Merdys) Richardson, Rita Jones, Jerome (Charmian) Richardson, Renell Sherman, Reshaun and Robin Richardson and Graylin (Lisa) Hammond; her sibling Albert Williams: 8 Grand-children: Taneisha (Daron), Gaston, Danielle (Terrence) Newman Sr., Shyantha McDowell, Briana Richardson, Queirra (Randy) Bass, Ryan Richardson, Helena Jefferson and Thomas Jones Jr.; 12 Great-grandchildren; 1Uncle: Thomas Williams; 1 Sister in law: Ruth Taylor and 1 Godchild: Nancy Williams and a devoted Cousin: Gwendolyn White and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.



Doris attended John H. Martyn High School in Jefferson, Louisiana. She worked as a “Foreman” at Roads and Bridges Parkway for 30 plus  years. Doris was known for being very outspoken. She enjoyed music, dancing (Second Line), parades and most of all her long drives with her daughter Gina.



Doris is preceded in death by her Parents: Presley and Helen Taylor Sr., her Son- in-law: Thomas Jones Sr.,  her Granddaughter: Cherita Jones and a brother Presley (P.K.) Taylor Jr.
