Not sure what to say?

Doris was a hero(ine) of my youth. She was a woman of astonishing ability, not the least of which was dealing with the 3 Medlyn men, raising her son, and essentially running the farm with grace and good humor. My memories of her are with me always. She was a model of what women can be and do.

Doris was a hero of my youth. She was perhaps the most accomplished woman I've ever known -- a gardener, a carpenter/woodworker, a cook, a mother, a friend. There was nothing she couldn't do. And she kept those old Yankee Medlyn brothers in hand!! I feel privileged to have had her as a neighbor, friend, and model of womanhood.

Doris was a hero of my youth. She was living proof that women could do everything men could and then some -- a master woodworker, a fabulous gardener, a cowman with the bets of them, and a wonderful cook. And all with a delicious sense of humor. I still miss her presence in my life.

So sorry to hear of your loss. She was an old Creek institution. They don't make them like that anymore. She will be missed by all.

To a life long family friend who has left the Creek for Heaven.

We will cherish our bird houses, memories of beef stew at Doris' house, and her birthday bull rides. Rest in the Lord.

Jay, I'm so sorry to hear that your mother's gone. Just a couple of weeks ago, I had a good long phone conversation with her, for which I'm now very grateful. She was an important person in my young life and a great role model for realizing there was pretty much nothing a woman couldn't do. I'll miss her wonderful sense of humor and just knowing she's there. All best, Jaylyn
