Not sure what to say?

Mr. Menard had an incredible gift that transcended age, ethnicity, and as all will see, time. I live in another region of the country now and did not realize he had passed. Although I didn't have the pleasure of seeing him perform, I heard a great deal of his music. He was a trailblazer for Cajun music and we all owe him a debt of gratitude. I'm not certain what we will be doing it heaven, but if it pertains to music, Mr. Menard has found a guitar and the angles are doing the two step.

DL was loved by all who knew him. I had the privilege to meet him at a music festival in Connecticut at Strawberry Park. He loved to talk to his fans after he was finished playing and he had the most wonderful personality, such humor, high energy and charm. In 2004 he went to Congres Mondial Acadian in Nova Scotia for the 400 year anniversary of Acadians coming to Nova Scotia. My parents and I met him again. He was so wonderful. My parents and I will never forget that day at Church Point,...

I INHERITED LIKE NEW CASSETTE TAPES FROM A KOREAN WAR VETERAN (OF POLISH DESCENT) AFTER HIS PASSING. LOTS OF THE MUSIC WAS CAJUN MUSIC FROM MANY ARTISTS. HE MUST HAVE LOVED D.L.AND HAD JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING D.L. PUT OUT THERE! I KNOW MY NEIGHBOR WAS STATIONED IN FORT POLK LOUISIANA.(LIVED IN DULUTH MINNESOTA) I HAVE A HUGE COLLECTION OF CAJUN MUSIC ALSO BUT WHEN I GO TO THE FAMILY CABIN IN MINNESOTA I PLAY THOSE CASSETTES. ESPECIALLY D.L.MENARD.LOVE HIS MUSIC! WOULD HAVE ALSO BEEN HONORED TO...

1 Corinthians 15:26

To the family of DL. May God grant you peace and know that Mr. D L was a gift from God to the Cajun nation and the world. So much joy de vie he spread thru his life, music and love of his family and friends.

D.L. Menard gave to us, in our own words, a song that will live forever--our "Cajun National Anthem" that is known world-wide. That would be enough for some people; to that, he leaves a legacy of loving south Louisiana enough to have lived here his whole life and raising his family here. Thank you, Mr. Menard, for sharing your gift of music with us and condolences from a grateful people to your family, friends and loved ones on your passing.
