Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home - Perryton Obituary

Doris Jean Pipkin, 89, of Spearman, Tx passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2021.  Services are scheduled for Thursday, July 15, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Union Church in Spearman with, Rev. Harold Bollinger officiating.  Burial will follow in Ochiltree Cemetery.   Arrangements are under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Spearman.


Doris was born on October 30, 1931 in Hansford County to Oakes Scroggs and Opal Faus Scroggs.   J.W. Pipkin and Doris Scroggs were married on May 29, 1949 in Spearman.  She sang at many weddings and funerals.  She was a lifelong member of Union Church. She was the best cook and everyone loved her chicken fried steak.  She loved her children and family very much.


She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W.(1997), her parents, two brothers, and one sister.


Doris is survived by three sons, Vernon and wife, Ann Pipkin of Spearman,TX, Roy and wife, Marianne Pipkin of Spearman, TX, and Scotty Pipkin of  Farnsworth, TX; a daughter, Gay and husband, Forrest Gilliam of Midland, TX.; seven sisters, Irene Ford of Amarillo, TX, Joyce Leach, of Dumas, TX, Mary Beth Harper of Perryton, TX, Zada Cooper of Roanoake, TX, Peggy Mitchell of Dallas, TX, Coleen Neal of Lebanon, MO and Sharon Johnson of Perryton, TX; two brothers, James and Tilden Scroggs of Spearman. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren Cody Pipkin, Mika Gumfory, Holly Kaluza, Maggie Pipkin, Elizabeth Pipkin, Katherine Zimmermann, Nathan Pipkin, Angela Johnson, Justin Pipkin, Natalie Simpson and Brian Pipkin; and 29 great-grandchildren.


The family suggests memorials be sent to the American Alzheimer’s or Union Church in Spearman.
