Doris Marie Pollard, age 73 was born on April 30, 1951, in New Orleans, LA departed this earthly home on Wednesday, May 29, 2024. Doris was the loving mother of Kimlery Pollard. Devoted sister of Melvin Day, Jr. (Wanda) and Shelia Coleman. Beloved sister-in-law of Lester Pollard, Terry Williams and Rosalind Brooks. Special Friend, Edgar Self. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Pollard; parents Melvin Day and Patricia Day; son Glenn Day; brother Michael Day; and her companion Glenn Williams. Relatives and friends of the family, also Pastor, officers and members of Pilgrim's Rest Baptist Church #2 and all neighboring churches, employees and members of Touro Hospital, New Orleans Veterans Hospital, Milan Senior Citizens Group, Broadmoor Community and the Uptown Dialysis Clinic are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Pilgrim's Rest Baptist Church #2, 2200 Louisiana Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70115 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery, 4000 Norman Mayer Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70122. my name is kim i work with at uptown nephrology with Drs reginelli, cruz, fox and shuja. Ms pollard was a person with a wonderful spirit and a great sense of humor. i looked forward to seeing her because i know she would give me a good laugh. she was beautiful on the inside and outside. i can truly say i love her and will miss her. however GOD was ready for her to come home because he needed that beautiful spirit to be with him. Test on Ms Pollard until we met again.

I met Doris four years ago when I began dialysis and for some reason I began calling her Marie with a bad French accent and lots of laughter. Then one day I heard someone call her Doris and I apologized to her for calling her Marie, she just laughed and said she liked me calling her that and it was her middle name. I also had a little relationship with Marie outside of dialysis at the voting precinct at McMain HS and there she was still her fun friendly self to all. I can honestly say she...
