Not sure what to say?

Wonderful friend and neighbor. She helped my son, Brad Branderhorst get into West Point Military Academy. He retired as a Lt. Col., and works for the government. We loved taking our walks, and having clam chowder on Fridays.

She was so caring, always went the extra mile and was utterly devoted to guiding students beyond their perceived potential. Ms. Ramey, I'm sorry I didn't say hi and thank you personally after my time at Lakeridge.

Mrs. Ramey was a lightening force in many a students life including my own. A member of her first "family living" class at Ridgefield High. Your memory has always been a positive force in both my wife's life and my own.

Mrs. Ramey was my counselor at Lakeridge from 1978-1982 and was a never ending source of encouragement and support for me. She would always mention artworks I had done that I was never aware that she had seen. She told me once that she "would someday see my name in lights". Whether my name has appeared in lights or not, I can still remember her kindness and hear her voice to this day. One person can really make a difference in a young person's life. I'm happy her life touched mine.

Doris Ramey was one of the most respected college counselors in the country. I had the pleasure of working with her while at Pacific University, Pitzer College, Harvard and Ripon. She was quick with a smile and kind word and every inch the professional when working with her beloved students.

College admissions counseling has lost a true champion and we have lost a pal.

Both my daughters as well as my son-in-law were Doris's counselees. She was the epitome of a college counselor striving to work closely with kids to find just the right fit for a higher education experience. Over her years at Lakeridge she worked her way into the hearts of many students and was highly regarded by her colleagues. After her retirement we became good friends visiting one another at our homes and occasionally traveling together. When I walked with her, even though she was...

My two sons, Brad & George Branderhorst attended Lakeridge from 1984-1990 and had Doris as a counselor. She was also our neighbor and walking partner. Doris shared a hotel room with us in New York when our son graduated from West Point in 1991, the first Lakeridge student to attend West Point Military Accadamy.Doris was always a wonderfull friend to eat out with, but her soup had "to be very hot" or the chef heard about it!

I was a senior the year that Lakeridge opened and doing way too much - one memorable afternoon - I went over the edge and Mrs. Ramey drove me home and sat with my parents as I let go of all that frustration.

A lovely, kind, and compassionate woman. My deepest sympathies to your family.

I had the honor of being one of Doris Ramey's students during those opening years at Lakeridge High. She was instrumental, compassionate and intelligent in guiding many of us struggling through navigating the hazzards of freedom as teens in the 70's. I appreciated her patient ear, openness of mind, and gentle words of advice. A great woman who touched many.
