My mom Margaret Dabbs loved Doris. She gave her a part time job years ago at Senior Resources . She also introduced my mom to Brooklyn Heights United Church. My mom often said Doris was the true reason SCR existed . When she retired it never was the same. My mom got sick and came to live with me and sweet Doris called to check on her. I served on the Board at Senior Citizens Resources for a total of 20 years, mostly as treasurer. Doris was the founder of SCR. She was an amazing person. The seniors in Old Brooklyn have a place to socialize, volunteer and enjoy a lunch program because of her. She started SCR with nothing and build it up to very successful organization. To Gary, and Becky and Carol, We did not just lose a person, but we lost an institution. Mom was amazing in every way. She helped everyone she touched and she was remarkable in her willingness to make others happy. I am sure that many, many people lived longer (and happier) lives because Doris Schwab touched them.
