Growney Funeral Home - Hillside Obituary

Doris (nee Pfister) Sievering passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at the age of 90. Born in Newark, NJ, Doris was raised in Maplewood, NJ where she met and later married Philip J. Sievering, Jr.  They moved to Berkeley Heights, NJ in 1962 to raise their family. Following Phil’s death in 2007, Doris relocated to Lantern Hill Independent Living, New Providence, NJ when it opened in 2016.

They were former members of Fairmont County Club in Chatham Township, NJ where Doris was a member of the 9-hole women’s golf group. A lifetime volunteer, she was a member and former president of the Women’s Club of Berkeley Heights and the PTA, and a Girl Scout Leader.  She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church for 58 years. Doris enjoyed bridge, crossword puzzles and reading. Most proud of her family, Doris taught them to always count their blessings.

Doris is survived by her son Philip R. Sievering (Nancy), daughters Susan Davis and Diane Kedash (David); nine grandchildren, Philip J. Sievering (Sarah), Bryan Sievering (Denise), Keriann Sievering, Brent Davis, Connor Davis (Natalie), Matthew Kedash, Andrew Kedash, Lauren Kedash, and Miles Kedash; and great grandchild, Clara Sievering.

There will be a private family service and burial at the Evergreen Cemetery in Hillside, NJ.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the American Heart Association. https://www2.heart.org.
