Funeral for Doris Aretter Hovis Sledge, 82, of Hartselle will be today, Sept. 22, 2007, at noon at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Mickey Brantley officiating.
Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in Wallace Cemetery in Rogersville. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon at the funeral home.
Mrs. Sledge, who died Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, at Decatur General Hospital, was born April 25, 1925, in Madison County to Raymond Hovis and Emma Richards Hovis. She was a member of West Hartselle Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Sledge, son, Dalton Sledge, and sister, Ramie Ann Benjamin.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathy D. Hatfield and husband, Jeff, of Hartselle; one brother, William Calvin Hovis of Madison; three sisters, Louise Bridges and Helen Brantley, both of Huntsville, and Edith Raby of Harvest; three grandchildren, Shane Steele and wife, Cristina, of Somerville, and Zac Hatfield and Cody Hatfield, both of Hartselle; and one great-granddaughter, Lilah Adriann Steele.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
