Doris Arlene Voss Spaulding

Dorie was one of the first friends I made when I moved to Charleston. She taught me to buy clothes from Carlyle and Worth; she even sold me some of her clothes, elegant suits which I still have. We had many fun times together. I remember a lovely dinner with Dorie and George when she served pasta, and we finished the evening with songs around the piano as she played for our music-making. A lovely, live-affirming person who spread joy wherever she went.
