Still miss you, Dorie!

One day, Dorie was having lunch with her girlfriends, who were passing pictures of their grandchildren around the table. Dorie fished in her purse for a picture of her "niece," my Thoroughbred mare, Edie, and passed it along to the ladies. They all laughed. "Dorie, this isn't your niece! It's a HORSE!" they said. Having been a close neighbor and friend of Dorie's sister, Linnea since we were babies in the play pen, I will always remember Dorie and Linn's "little sister," Dorie Beth, tagging along after us as we played in the neighborhood. Dorie Beth was as pretty as a porcelain doll and very sweet. As an adult, she was caring, generous and always thinking of others. Dorie never failed to send a note, often accompanied by one of her handmade crafts when you were sick or had experienced a loss or...
