     Mrs. Dorothy Woolard Alligood, age 93, a resident of Old Bath Highway, died Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at Ridgewood Manor Nursing Home in Washington.


    Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, October 14, 2022, at the Alligood Family Cemetery, 392 Old Bath Highway, Washington, conducted by Rev. Linwood Lewis.    


      Mrs. Alligood was born in Beaufort County on May 31, 1929. She was the daughter of the late Lonnie Woolard and Verna Everson Woolard.  Mrs. Alligood was a retired machine operator at National Spinning.  She was a member of Alligood Church of God.  In her spare time, Mrs. Alligood enjoyed gardening and watching things grow.


     On September 22, 1950, Mrs. Alligood married Floyd Alligood, who preceded her in death.


      Mrs. Alligood is survived by three grandchildren, Walter Alligood, Dorothy Hardison, Kim Mitchell: six great grandchildren, Sophie Alligood, Dustin Hardison, Cameron Hardison, Austin Mitchell, Aaron Mitchell, Amber Jozsa, seven great great grandchildren, a sister, Merril Lou Nobles of Chocowinity, a sister-in-law Josephine Woolard, and a daughter-in-law Linda Alligood.


      In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Alligood was preceded in death by two sons, Walter Gray Alligood and Floyd Alligood, Jr.; three brothers, Nathan Woolard, Harley P. Woolard, and James T. Woolard; sisters, Edna Woolard, Laura Clark, and Verna Mae Paul.
