Dorothy Lee Bates

I was a junior when I moved to Glendale and Dorothy was a senior. She and her best friend, Mary Ruth Sparks, took me under their wing like mother hens. They made sure I always did the right thing and protected me. Dorothy was the smartest and most beautiful girl in school. I was lucky to call her my friend.

I loved my Mom with all my heart. She was my confidant and friend. She lives on through my children and their children. May you be beach combing and gardening in heaven. This is my daughter who teaches. Like Mom with passion everyday. Miss and Love you with all my heart.

Dorothy was a gentle soul who had a deep passion for family, friends, and the children in her classrooms. She and I rode to college together to receive our teaching degrees. Then we taught at the same school in Grants Pass for 18 years. I always felt I could take anything to Dorothy and I would get the best advice.
