My sincere sympathies to family and friends. I met Dot at a Beethoven's Birthday gathering during my studies at the North Bennet Street School in 1999. Along with the technical aspects of the trade, Dot had an excellent handle on the psychology of the "noble craft" and offered memorable advice. For example, I remember she told me it takes about a year of on-the-road tunings and service work before you can travel to a new client without getting that "knot in the middle of your stomach"...
