McNally & Watson Funeral & Cremation Service - Clinton Obituary

KANAB, UT/CLINTON, MA

Dorothy E. (Caulfield) Chisholm, 91, died Tuesday, August 11, 2020, after a period of declining health.

She is survived by four children: Barry J. Chisholm, and his wife, Ramona, of Jackson, NH, Richard L. Chisholm of Kanab, UT, Kathleen F. Capilli, and her husband, Robert, of East Meadow, NY, and Jeannie C. Chisholm, and her husband, Mario Messina, of Concord, NH; and a daughter-in-law, Sheryl Chisholm, of Seattle, WA.

She was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Richard L. Chisholm, who died in 1985, and their son, William R. Chisholm, who died in 2013.

Dorothy was born in Worcester, MA, and raised in Clinton, MA, daughter of Robert and Catherine (O’Connell) Caulfield. She was a graduate of Clinton High School, Clinton, MA, and upon her marriage to Richard, settled in Lancaster, MA, and soon welcomed their first two children. In 1958, Richard accepted a position with the Civil Service, which took the family to Florida, California, Utah, and Washington state, during which time, they welcomed three more children.

As a child growing up in Clinton, MA, Dorothy was a member of the former Our Lady of the Rosary Church, and during the 1940’s and 1950’s, was employed by the former Colonial Press.

The consummate homemaker, no matter where the Chisholm family was sent by the Civil Service, she made their house a home; for home is where the heart is, and Dorothy was the heart of her family.

Dorothy’s funeral service will be private. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Richard, in Eastwood Cemetery, Lancaster, MA. Arrangements are in the care of McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., Clinton, MA. To share a memory of Dorothy, or offer condolences to her family, please sign the Guest Book.

Not sure what to say?

Condolences to your family. I'll never forget Dot's endearing nickname she had for me when I would visit with Kathy as an awkward 13 year old in Ahwahnee, California. I often thought about her over the years and hope she lived a full and rewarding life.

So sorry to hear about Dottie. She was one of the funniest woman I ever met! I knew her through my mother-in-law, Dorothy and her sister Genevieve Guenther Korner-lots of laughs when they got together! RIP Dottie!
