Dorothy was a great friend of the Saint Louis Zoo. We are proud to have on display a beautiful "bug quilt" she made for our Insectarium. She loved insects, referring to them as "God's creatures." We will miss her and honor her legacy of support of the Zoo.

We enjoyed Dorothy's energy and presence enormously at First Unitarian Church in St. Louis. She and Alex were one of the first couples to welcome us to the church. They treated us, a lesbian couple, as equals. Dorothy did have questions for us, and we enjoyed the conversations. When Betty became pregnant with our daughter, Dorothy looked at both of us and asked how that happened. She called our daughter the miracle baby, with ongoing jokes about immaculate conception.
