Dorothy Marie Corrigan, 89, of Springfield, died at 7:05 p.m. Sunday, May 8, 2005 at St. John’s Hospital. Dorothy was born September 14, 1915 in Springfield, the daughter of W.B. and Clara Bretz Golden. She married Joseph E. Corrigan on August 22, 1939 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She graduated from Ursuline Academy and was a devoted wife and mother. She was a charter member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of Springfield Art Association, St. Joseph’s Home Coterie and a former member and past president of St. John’s Hospital Guild. She was preceded in death by two sisters: Mary Scott, Betty “B.J.” Coalson and one brother: William B. Golden, Jr. She is survived by her husband: Joseph E. Corrigan of Springfield; four sons: Ronald J. (wife, Carolyn) Corrigan of Mountain Home, AR, Joseph W. (wife, Judy) Corrigan of Peoria, Dennis M. Corrigan of Chicago, Donald P. (wife, Joyce) Corrigan of Anna; one daughter: Mary Lynn (husband, David) Stjern of Springfield; ten grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. There will be an additional visitation from 10-10:45 a.m. Thursday, May 12, 2005 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1930 Barberry Dr. Springfield. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. David Hoefler celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Dorothy Marie Corrigan for masses. The family of Dorothy Marie Corrigan is being served by Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield.
