Burkhart Funeral Home - Crawfordsville Obituary

Dorothy Jane Coudret passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025. She was 87 years old.

Dorothy graduated from Evansville Memorial High School in 1955 and attended the University of Kentucky. She worked at Mead Johnson International prior to staying home to care for her 7 children. Once her children were school age, she began working at First National Bank which later became Chase Bank. Dorothy loved caring for others, especially her children and grandchildren, who were the joy of her life. She found happiness in the simple pleasures. She enjoyed reading on her Kindle, playing the piano and listening to her favorite music. More than anything, Dorothy cherished her role as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her greatest passion was her family, and she dedicated her life to loving and supporting them in every way.

She was born on December 7, 1937 in New Haven, Kentucky to parents, HB Allen, JR and Margaret (Greenwell) Allen. She married Kenneth W. Coudret on January 17, 1959 at St. Benedict Cathedral in Evansville, Indiana. They were married for 57 years. She was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Crawfordsville.

Survivors include: 3 sons, Ken Coudret, Jr.(Tammy), Dan Coudret, and Dave (Sherry) Coudret; 2 daughters, Jane Coudret and Mary (Michael) Scheidler; 2 daughters-in-laws, Annette Coudret and Danielle Coudret; 9 Grandchildren, Sarah (Bart), Zac (Christine), Catherine (Justin), Tori ( Dan), Carter, Patrick (Regan), Jane (Dawson), Megan (Spencer), and Kyler; 12 Great Grandchildren, Joselyn, Abby, Clark, Aubree, Aiden, Anna, Benny, David, Wyatt, Theodore, Lydia, Jackson; 1 sister, Mary Elizabeth (Joe) Elpers; and 1 brother, Richard Allen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken; 2 sons, Mike and Bob; and a granddaughter, Whitney.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 1306 E Main Street in Crawfordsville from 10:00 am in the Holy Cross Room until the time of the Mass in the Sanctuary at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to the Montgomery County Community Foundation, PO Box 334, Crawfordsville, IN 47933, to benefit the Montgomery County Free Clinic Fund or the Dorothy Ken Coudret Fund.
