Carroll Baker, 88, of Richmond, Va., went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 21, 2011. Dorothy was born in Manhattan, Kansas, and grew up in North Platte, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Lewis Allen Curling; parents, Marvel L. and Florence Wortham Baker; brothers, Montee Robert Baker and John Baker; and a sister, Frances Baker Koehler of Omaha, Nebraska. She is survived by her three children, Montee A. Curling (Karen), Marlene Curling Gartner and Stanley C. Curling (Kay); seven grandchildren, Amanda Curling Hilderbran (Matt), Melissa Curling, Jesse Curling, Rachel Gartner, Nathan Gartner, Jacob Gartner and Abigail Gartner; and many nieces and nephews. She was devoted to her family as a mother, friend, homemaker, and as a secretary to her husband's private law practice, when the family lived in South Norfolk (Chesapeake), Virginia. She enjoyed playing the piano and writing music. She will be missed by all who knew her. The family will receive friends at Bliley's - Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where a memorial visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 30. Private interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 4600 Cox Rd., Suite 130, Glen Allen, Va. 23060, or to Lakeside Presbyterian Church, 7343 Hermitage Rd., Henrico, Va. 23228.
