Dorothy Jane "Dot" Dalton, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin, sister, aunt, and much more to those who knew her, passed away on November 23rd, 2021, in the comfort of her own home, in which she had lived for fifty years. Dorothy was born in Philadelphia on June 11th, 1945 to Dorothy Wills and Alford Wills. The oldest of two, and driven to learn, she was the first in her family to go to college, attending Temple University to pursue a Master's Degree in Accountancy. However, greater than her drive to learn was her drive to teach and her love of family, apparent in her two children whom she raised concurrent to her education. Though a lifelong resident of Philadelphia, she loved to travel, discontent with just seeing the world through pictures and words She visited Mexico, Maine, North Caroline, Arizona, Tennessee, Florida many times. She would always return to her place of birth, enamored by the city's culture, specifically its theaters and restaurants, both of which she patronized frequently. She shared these experiences with all who would join her, be it distant relatives or even children in her neighborhood. No one who met Dorothy could forget her contagious passion. She was preceded in death by her daughter Denise L. Dalton, but her warmth lives on through her descendants: her daughter Victoria E. Reinhardt, her grandchildren Jennifer L. Nicholson, Robert W. Reinhardt, Alex J. Dalton, and Amanda J. McCormick, her great-grandchildren Sylas R. Nicholson and Brodie S. Nicholson, her sister Lorraine J. Fortino, her niece Lorraine (Lori) J. Fortino, her nephew Frank A. Fortino, cousin, Virginia Wininger and the many cats she loved so dearly. She will be missed by all who knew her. Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Thursday December 2nd from 4:30-6 PM at McCafferty Sweeney Slabinski Barnes Funerals and Cremations, 6126 Torresdale avenue. Words of remembrance at 6 PM and her interment will be held privately. Reception to follow at Dagwoods Pub, 4625 Linden Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19114. Please share your fondest memories of Dot at PhillyFunerals.com. In lieu of flowers your donation to NationalMSSociety.org , The Mann Music Center, The Arbor Foundation, SaveTheWhales.com or SPCA would be appreciated by her family.
