Dorothy Dayton Obituary
Dorothy Dayton passed away March 10, 2011 in Riverside, CA. She was born January 28, 1931 in Lompoc, CA to M.P. and Virginia Costa. She grew up in the Jalama District, attended the Jalama School through the seventh grade and graduated from Lompoc High School in 1949.
She married Nicholas Harry Visbeek in 1949. They had two sons, Nicholas and Michael. They owned and operated the Wagon Wheel Nursery on North V Street for many years. She moved to Anaheim, CA in 1963. In 1969, she married Gerald Dayton and lived in Fullerton, CA, later moving to Mira Loma, CA.
She is survived by her sister Eva Hamon of Lompoc, CA; her son Nicholas (Molly) Visbeek of Costa Mesa, CA; grandchildren: Emily, Maggie and Max Visbeek and Ryan Visbeek; stepchildren: Colleen and Craig Dayton; five step-grandchildren: Bill, Bobby, Amy, Tony and Nicky; and nine step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son Michael Visbeek; her stepdaughter Darleen Dayton; her parents; and her brothers George, Joe and Louis Costa.
Services will be held at Old Mission Church in San Luis Obispo, CA on Friday, March 18th at 2:00pm, with burial to follow at Old Mission Cemetery in San Luis Obispo, CA.
