This lady stepped into Somerville Elementary during my 8th grade year. She was caring, but took no guff from those who were foolish enough to bring forth her teacher voice. She taught us how to balance a checkbook and write checks, she taught us Algebra, but most importantly, she taught us that it didn't matter our background, she believed we could accomplish great things. That has been the lesson that has stayed with me since October 1987. Rest In Peace, Mrs. Dodge.
