Miss Dottie was my ballet teacher in Sunnyvale, I remember the old barn on the property. She told me I could not be a ballerina and go on point because of my long toes, which made me so sad. But then she introduced me to tap dancing, which I adored, and I still remember dancing to Blackberry Boogie! She was such a tiny lady but was a force of nature and a wonderful teacher. My condolences to her family.

Dottie was my dance teacher from age 4 through adulthood. She was seemed like a second mother to me since in my teens I spent more time at the studio that I did at home. She taught me so much more than just dance: tap, ballet, jazz, acrobat, hula, Japanese. She taught me about confidence, about myself, and life in general. She drew me out of my shell, which I'm sure was her mission in life. She was a wonderful person. Her legacy lives on as my daughter, Danielle, continues her passion for...

When I was a little girl in the 1950's in San Jose, my grandfather, Edward W. Kress paid for my dancing lessons at Dotty Dunn's Ballet School. My grandfather was an Architect in San Jose. I have loving memories of those times and Dotty Dunn is part of them. Her memory lives on.
