Not sure what to say?

I am so sorry for your loss I remember she was very kind to me when I played the piano for her I was so nervous to play in front of her cuz I knew how incredibly gifted and how much she loved playing the piano I am kind of a cousin of hers my dad nils David fahlman was her husband clydes cousin I am very sorry for your loss

Dorothy Fahlman was one of the greatest teachers - if not THE greatest, that I had in any subject. She taught me how to feel and express, and how to work hard on a goal.

Dorothy judged Alaska Music Teachers Association festival in the early 80s. She adjudicated in Fairbanks for a week, consulted with each teacher after her students played, and also gave a workshop. We were all young teachers, and we fell in love with Dorothy. Besides being a brilliant teacher of brilliant students, she was so warm and kind and encouraging to each of us. In her workshop, I told her I had been teaching the Clementi sonatinas for a dozen years, and was tired of them - could...

Dorothy was an amazing, accomplished, truly lovely woman and a cherished member of P.E.O. Chapter AK. She will be so very missed. My sincere condolences to the family.

My heart goes out to your family during this difficult time. As an OMTA member I had the privilege of being influenced by your dear Dorothy's exuberance and joy of teaching. Her smile was seemingly ever-present, brightening whatever space she was in. She was so encouraging to teachers like myself who lacked the experience and background she held. What a gift this amazing woman was, and will remain so in your hearts and in those of the many, many others she touched throughout her well-lived...

An inspiration to all who teach and play piano, Dorothy's generosity touched many.

"Mrs. Fahlman" will forever hold a special place in my heart. She welcomed me into her studio when I was 12. Over the next 6 years, she made an indelible mark on both my piano life and my adolescent life. Pushing me "just enough" and letting me know she cared created a wonderful learning experience. What a beautiful legacy she leaves! I feel so fortunate to have known and studied with her.

I am truly blessed to know Dorothy. She was my mentor, my friend, and dear teacher to my three children. She was very fond of all her students, ready to support them in whatever direction they wanted to take. To her, nurturing a person was more important than winning a competition; and winning a competition was never the only goal. She wanted them to win in life and find their calling. Dorothy was such a noble person with a grand and beautiful heart! We talked about life, piano, and raising...

Dorothy was one of the first members of the Oregon Music Teachers Association that I met when I joined in 1985. She always was generous with advice and support any time I asked over the years. Dorothy was a true leader- the encouraging, optimistic person that was impossible to say "no" to! I was delighted that she accepted my advanced students when I moved out of the area. She kept me informed of their progress, always inviting me to their performances. They were fortunate to get to study...
