Dot and I became friends when we were working at Southern Pacific Company in San Francisco. We were both 19 years old. We attended each other's wedding, our husbands became friends and we spent many happy hours together. My condolences to Michael who has lost his beloved mother. I have lost a true friend.

Dot Foley was a generous and thoughtful woman who took quite seriously her role as my godmother. Every year, wherever in the world I was living, Dot would write to wish me a happy birthday. I remember well my last visit to her house in Los Altos just after Ed died. Despite the loss of her dear partner and more than a few medical issues, she was her usual strong, upbeat and warm self, asking about my mother, my sisters, and my children, and sharing news of her numerous friends and the family....
