Dorothy M. Hahn, age 88, of Park Rapids, MN (formerly of Winthrop, MN), passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids, MN.

Dorothy was born in Winthrop, MN to Alvin and Myrtle (Lickfett) Anderson. She was baptized March 7, 1926 at the First Lutheran Church in Winthrop, MN. Dorothy was confirmed on July 21, 1940 at First Lutheran Church in Lafayette, MN. She attended the New Ulm High School where she graduated with the class of 1944. In 1947 she completed and graduated as a registered nurse from the Northwestern Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, MN.

Dorothy was united in Marriage to Rudy Hahn on December, 26, 1947 at the First Lutheran Church in Lafayette, MN. Their marriage was blessed with five children: Douglas, Dwight, Denis, Beverly, and DeMar. Dorothy was employed at the Gaylord Community Hospital in Gaylord, MN from 1959-1968. In 1968 Dorothy and Rudy moved to Park Rapids where they lived for many years. Dorothy worked as a registered nurse for St. Joseph?s Area Health Services from 1969 until her retirement in 1986. During her career at St. Joseph?s, she worked in all areas of the hospital and was given the title Director of Nurses. She was actively involved in establishing the Park Rapids Area HOSPICE Program. During her retirement she enjoyed working part time for J & B foods in Park Rapids from 1995-2004.
Dorothy was a past member of St. John?s Lutheran Church, Mountville near Gaylord, MN. She attended St. John?s Lutheran Church in Park Rapids, where she taught Release time and Sunday School. Dorothy was also a member of the Evening Guild where she took on the duties of past president and treasurer.

Dorothy will be missed by her children; Douglas (Carol) Hahn, of Park Rapids, MN, Dwight (Jan) Hahn of Askov, MN, Denis (Katherine) Hahn of Edina, MN, Beverly (Curt) Spoor of Park Rapids, MN, and DeMar (Lorrie) Hahn Melbourne, FL; four sisters: Donna Stuber of Winthrop, MN, Eunice Boehm of Fairfax, MN, Carrollynn Rathmann of Gibbon, MN, Margaret Lund of New Ulm, MN; two brothers: Calvin Anderson of Bondursnt, IA and William (Diane) Anderson of LeSueur, MN; twelve grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one brother-in-law: Mike Korkemeier, and many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandson Andrew Hahn, four sisters: Marion Neubarth, Elaine Stresemann, Marlys Rettig, and Sandra Korkemeier; one brother: Earl and six brother-in-laws: Rueben Neubarth, Gerhard Stresemann, Norville Stuber, Joe Boehm, Clarence Rathmann, and Leon Rettig; and one sister-in-law: Elva Anderson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 10, 2014 at St. John?s Lutheran Church in Park Rapids, MN with the Reverend James Neubauer and Pastor Tim Heinecke officiating. Burial will take place at the Greenwood Cemetery in Park Rapids, MN. Visitation will take place on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Jones Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids from 4 PM to 7 PM and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Dorothy Hahn hired me in 1976. She was a pleasure to work for and always vey caring. I remember when we had our twins and she was so understanding of our situation and considerate to work with my schedule. I have always thought highly of her. Prayers to all of her family at this time.

I have many special memories of Dorothy as director of nurses (she hired me in 1977)at St. Joesph's Hospital. She was a very kind, wonderful person. My sympathy to Bev and rest of the family
