Dorothy Jean "DJ" Landis

I just learned last Saturday about DJ's death in March. Being a good "Book-a-holic" , I first met DJ in her role as a cashier at the New Cumberland Library semi-monthly book sales. We would chat amiably about books and we discovered that we shared a passion for children's books written by Marguerite deAngelis, who was born the mid-west but lived for many years in the Philadelphia area. DJ's collection of these books written (and colorfully illustrated) by Mrs. deAngelis were gifts to her...

DJ was a wonderful woman... Used to pick up people from the senior highrise and take them to church on top of all else. She will be missed.

Although a resident in another state for much of her Leadership of New Cumberland, whenever I returned- ever present was the steadfast ladership she provided to our town. We need more people with her sense of Civic Pride! Mother (Doris Grandon) enjoyed working with her on many projects.

Keep her bright light shining in New Cumberland. Her legacy will be felt for generations. We will miss her very much.
