Dorothy Lungmus was a fine U.S. History teacher. She made us memorize a great deal, which I found quite useful in my career as a history professor. She had as much to do with my choice of career as anyone.

My chance re-acquaintance with Dorothy Lungmus began on a trip to Cleveland in 2013. I reintroduced myself as a student in her Latin American & African History course in the 60s. It was reassuring to hear the same voice I'd recalled from her teaching, almost 50 years later.
