Not sure what to say?

Ms. Marple impacted my life at Thiel through her guidance and support in encouraging my leadership skills. Her compassion mixed with her integrity and her management skills made all the difference as Dean of Women and mentor to those of us in leadership roles. She knew how to relate to us and to inspire us to greater thinking and action. I will always be grateful for her place in my life! Bonnie Youkers Sowers '61

I came to know "Miss Marple" as Dean Marple during my years as a student at Thiel College. She had a great impact on the students of our day with her grace, witt, wisdom, and Christ centered orientation.
Her carreer as a leader in our Lutheran Church was an asset to many who sought her insight and knowledge. Truly she has heard the words "Well done good and faithful servant."

God bless us all,
THE REV. DR. CLYDE A. McGEE, Pastor
Thiel Class of 1961

Dorothy was a very gifted person who shared those gifts with many people. As a leader of the church's women, she provided a quality of professionalism that inspired other women.

Paul Howells, LCA Staff

I will miss Dorothy, but I know her witness to Jesus Christ and the Gospel through her life and service will live forever. I will cherish the memories of her time at Ascension Lutheran Church, her gracious hospitality, and her many contributions to the church. Both Dorothy and Lois were angels to many seminarians, international students, and their families. I give thanks to God for the honor of having crossed ways with her in this life.

What a blessing Dorothy was to women everywhere, particularly in the Lutheran Church. I am honoured to have known her.

Dorothy was a sensitive, caring and straightforward advocate who supported me and many who were engaged in youth ministry of the LCA. She shared her wisdom as to the breadth of God's intentions for all humanity.

Lover of God, lover of the gathered community, commited to excellence, change agent of the highest caliber, constant, witty, one of the s/heroes at a time when women were not so honored and respected. She was - many times - the true bishop of the church. For all of us who knew her, how blessed we were to make part of the journey together. Thanks be to God for this sister!

I have such fond memories of the times we spend with Lois and Dorothy-both in Philly and Mpls. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time.

Dorothy and Lois were both wonderful mothers in my path into the international Lutheran world. I am honored to have known you. Thank God for her gifts and life.
