Dorothy Mayville Norwood, 75, passed from this life on Sunday November 18, 2018 at Baptist Health Center in Stuttgart, Arkansas. One of nine children born to William and Maybell Mayville, she entered this world on March 27, 1943 in the town of Clarendon, Arkansas. She married Earnest Norwood on November 21, 1987 and together had the privilege of a blended family and in time 9 grandchildren to spoil. As a member of The Church of God of Prophecy for 40 years she helped in many of the church's ministries such as a teacher, singing in the choir and the auxiliary. Dorothy worked for 16 years in the textile factory industry and retired in June of 1980 from Van Heusen of Brinkley.


She was involved in her community through the years in; the American Legion Auxiliary, Clarendon, and the Board of Directors of Monroe county Human Development Center, Brinkley. She was a kind-hearted person who loved to help those in need, and visiting the sick and shut-in. She also loved fishing, hunting, gardening, and cooking.


She was preceded in death by: Husband; Earnest Norwood, Sons; Richard Smith, and Frankie Smith, Brother; Billy Mayville, and Sisters; Frances Johnson, and Glenda Bogy.


Survivors include: Son; James Smith, Daughters; Donna Gilmore (Starsky), Virginia Stuckey (Peter), Elizabeth Sundeen (Michael), Brother; William Mayville Jr. (Alice), Sisters; Anne Kirchoff, Mary Dickson (Dennis), Linda Hamner, Penelope Green (Mike), 9 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.


Visitation Tuesday 6:00-8:00 PM At Bob Neal & Sons Chapel, Clarendon, Funeral Wednesday 2:00 PM at Bob Neal & Sons Chapel, Clarendon, Interment at Roc Roe Cemetery, Aberdeen, Arkansas.
