Doro - what an incredible legacy you created in my life! Though my direct contact with you was limited to 2 weeks in Nicaragua in 2001, your warmth, compassion, and incredible attention to social justice inspired me far beyond that brief time with you. Your annual letters refueled my energy to support peace and justice - Now I will work to carry the flame forward and keep your light shining on in my humble efforts to promote peace!

I worked with Dorothy in Nicaragua where we became good friends. We stayed in touch and visited each other for many years afterwards. Dorothy gave so much to so many. She was an inspiration to all who knew her and worked with her.

What a shining light Dorothy was. I was lucky enough to travel on five Habitat trips to Central America with her as our team leader, and she was an inspiration. It seemed that whenever I felt too hot and tired to carry one more block, or tie one more bit of rebar, I'd look and see Dorothy working away peacefully, often surrounded by children eager to be in her presence. Dorothy was always one of my favorite women in the world. She was always honest, had an amazing work ethic, and as someone else mentioned, she walked her talk, and talked her walk. She role modeled how to be for me, Thank You Dorothy.

I met Dorothy about 10 years ago. She led a Habitat group on my first trip to Jinotega Nicaragua. I made several trips with her. She was an inspiration to me and helped me in many ways. Her energy and work for fairness and social justice was amazing.Knowing her was a gift from God.
