I'm so saddened to hear of Dorothy's death. She was a remarkable woman and historian, rare in the academy for her brilliance, kindness, modesty, wit, and generosity to younger scholars. I learned so much from her. It was a privilege to have known her. My sympathy to her children and extended family.
