Not sure what to say?

I have nothing but good memories of Miss White. She was an excellent teacher! I am ALWAYS remembering something that she taught us. Much of the information on the SC State Teacher's Exam came from her senior English class. I was able to go back and visit her and tell her this. She was very pleased to hear it! I now realize that she was probably not surprised! I cannot even TEXT today without using proper punctuation and grammar---and I'm sure she is the reason! She will always be a part of my...

Miss White was by far my favorite teacher in my senior year. She had a wonderful gift for teaching and instilled in her students a love a all things literary. I know my love of literature of all kinds is a direct influence of her. She was a wonderful person and I'll always remember her with admiration and fondness.

Miss White was definitely my favorite high school teacher. Her class was one I looked forward to even though I dreaded the possibility of one of her "pop" tests. A special lady and a truly special teacher!

I, too, was blessed to have Miss White as an English teacher. She was the best English teacher that I ever had. She really made English fun!

Miss White not only taught me English she also taught me Latin for two years. I hadn't seen her in in a long time, but she will be missed by all of us that knew her.

What can be said about Miss White that hasn't already been said. Simply put, she was the best teacher I ever had. She challenged us to reach higher than we ever realized we could. Her gentle nature allowed her students to feel comfortable around her, yet that same gentleness commanded such respect.
As a sophomore in college, when realizing I wasn't enjoying business administration, I changed my major to English. Upon reflection, I realized that Miss White had prepared me for that...

Ms. White was one of the few teachers that I fondly remember from my years at NCHS. I know my use of proper English was greatly influenced by her. A few years after my 1951 graduation I visited her in class and found my drawing of Shakespeare posted on her bulletin board. She will be remembered.

Senior English with Ms. White, I always loved that class. Ms. White inspired me to commit to memory long passages of great literature and to view the library as a gold mine. I don't know how she did it; but she never seemed to have to discipline us. Perhaps we behaved well because she exemplified the best behavior and had such quiet composure.
My sincere condolences to her family; how fortunate you were to have her.

What a world-class teacher and inspiration. Miss White prodded gently, firmly and purposefully, and we responded--even us nodders who'd been up since 4:30 delivering the News and Courier! I even remember how to diagram a sentence--of course, she was among the last to ever ask us to do that. To me she's the symbol of what NCHS was in those mid-50s days, and her legacy is the hundreds or thousands of readers, writers and thinkers she influenced. Without a doubt, the most memorable teacher I...
