Not sure what to say?

I have fond memories of Mrs. Yates, Dorothy as she later was asked to be called by us “young-ones. The Yates and Bass families were intertwined in a small part of Midland history… I remember those early days at Carpenter Street School where the Yates lived close by on Jerome Street and I would go over to the Yates after school to play with Tom. When the Yates moved to their new Alden B. Dow designed house on Lexington Court, I was fascinated by the split level design where the...

It's so hard to say good-bye to a wonderful lady. I thought of Dorothy as my own family. She was more then just someone I cared for. She taught me alot and didn't even know it. I also meet alot of wonderful people through her that has became my friends. I fell in love with her family and we miss her. I love you Dorothy for now and always. God got a very special angel in you and he took you to soon. I know you are happy and that helps me alot.

Sam: My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Your mother lived a very long and blessed life. Peace.

I said good-bye to my parents five years ago, now, and understand the difficulties of letting them go. Living so close, in the same subdivision, I knew the family, especially Sue, fairly well. My mother lived to be over 98, so was about the same age, with dad only two years younger. Know that my sympathies and prayers are with you in this time of loss. Jim Skidmore

To the Yates family, at this time, it is so difficult to say good-bye.. tho we will be with our loved ones, soon. Susan, I do remember your mom, so well, she was a lovely person., and you do have many, many loving memories of her and of the times past. Do hold these tightly to your heart, and be thankful for the wonderful times that you were able to have with your mom. This is so special. You are deeply blessed in so many ways. You will always be in our prayers, Judy Anne McNamara...

It is so difficult to say goodbye to our parents. Keep those happy memories close to your heart. Our neighborhood was a great place to grow up and to live. You were just across the park and I remember your Mom always had a smile for me.

During the 12 years I served as conductor of the Midland Symphony Orchestra I don't think Dorothy (or Bill) ever missed a concert! We became, and remained, close friends. Her love for Midland and all it represented was most notable and she will be sorely missed.
