Dorthy Lee Louthian, age 80, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at her home in Chilhowie, VA. 


Dorthy was born on September 17, 1945, to the late James and Pauline Doss Stines. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James David Stillwell; her son, Jerry Louthian; granddaughter, Whisper Louthian; sister, Stella Poston; and brothers, Pete and John Stines. Dorthy was a devoted Christian woman who kept Jesus and her family at the center of her life. She was a faithful member of Living Waters Church of God in Chilhowie. In her spare time, she found joy in gardening, tending to her flowers, and watching the birds that visited her yard.


Survivors include her daughter Sherry Fillhart & husband Shane; three sons Jimmy Louthian & wife Michelle, Eddie Louthian, and John Louthian; grandchildren Jeremy Kendall, Tia Angelo, Jonathan Braxton, Jeffrey Louthian, Keely Justis, Hannah Caywood, and Trevor Caywood; sisters Carolyn Powers, Ruth Ann Joines & husband Raymond, and Peggy Shuler & husband Mike; great grandchildren Aubrey Louthian, Eli Braxton, and Lorelai Justis; along with several nieces, nephews, and her church family. 


Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM, Tuesday, September 30, 2025, from the Bradley’s Funeral Chapel in Chilhowie with Pastor Adam Blackwell officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00PM, on Tuesday at the funeral chapel. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.bradleysfh.com. DORTHY WAS A SWEET LADY. I REMEMBER AS A 10 YEAR-OLD IN 1978, I RODE WITH HER AND HER LATE SON, JERRY TO THE RAINBOW MOTEL TO CATCH THE BUS TO GO TO SUMMER SCHOOL. THEY WERE BOTH GOOD PEOPLE. YOU WILL BE MISSED, DOTHY.
